NEW NOTICE – APRIL 13, 2017

The online Foundations of Child Development training (for Child Care Center Teachers and for Family Child Care Providers) through Better Kid Care will continue to be free through Sunday, April 30, 2017. After Sunday, April 30, 2017 – you can access the online training for a $5 fee or you can take the instructor-led training, for free, though your local CCR&R.
 
Remember, the deadline for completing this training was Friday, March 31, 2017. If you have not completed this training yet, you should do so immediately.
 

NOTICE – 
Any trainings completed through Better Kid Care will automatically be sent and registered in PINJ. Please do not send copies of your certificates to PINJ. Please allow two weeks for the training to posted in PINJ.

 

Required Health and Safety Training for CCDBG Reauthorization

Center Based Programs

All staff working in center based programs must complete training to meet the CCDBG reauthorization requirements for health and safety.  

The following trainings topics are required:  First Aid and CPR, Health and Safety Basics, Child Abuse and Neglect, and Child Development. For some of the training topics, participants have a choice on training modality. The total number of training hours for Center Based Programs is ten hours plus CPR and First Aid Training.
 

PLEASE NOTE: Only the health and safety training courses linked to below or the courses offered through your CCR&Rs will be counted towards your required training hours for DFD’s Subsidy Assistance Program Health and Safety Requirements.

There is a limit to the number of active users we can have in the online training system at one time. Please do not register until you are ready to complete the training. Description: Topics include First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).

Child care center staff have the option to attend a CPR/First Aid training course offered through the local CCR&R or attend/hire a certified trainer/vendor.  The trainer/ vendor must be certified by a recognized health organization. The CPR training course must offer a hands-on-skills practice. Examples of a few of the recognized health organizations are: American Safety and Health Institute, American Red Cross, and the American Heart Society.

Home Based Programs

All providers (FCC and FFN) must complete training to meet the CCDBG reauthorization requirements for Health and Safety.  The total number of training hours for Home Based Programs is twelve hours plus CPR and First Aid Training.
 
Home based programs must take the following steps to meet the requirements:
  1. Orientation Training 2-hour training. Available at your local CCR&R. Topics include Office of Licensing (OOL) policy review, Business Practices, and Program Management;
  2. Complete items needed to meet CCDBG reauthorization;
  3. Begin application for FCC Registration (if applicable);
  4. Complete the required Health and Safety Training Topics as listed below;
  5. Complete FCC Registration including home inspection.
